A website or application interface's icons play a significant role in giving you a first impression. However, developing them from scratch takes a lot of time and money. Icons allow you to communicate effectively with your visitors: they enhance readability, highlight important content, re-enforce functionality or features, and improve the visual appeal. It is, therefore worthwhile to pay attention to ready-made icon packs.

Are you looking for high-quality, free icons for your web graphics? Well, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve scoured the web to find 7 of the best sites for free, but beautiful, icons. Without further preamble, here’s a list of where to find free icons to download for all your graphic design projects

1. Flat icon

The same people who brought you Freepik are behind Flat Icon, which offers the largest collection of free vector icons online. The unique feature of Flat Icon is the ability to convert icons into downloadable fonts. It's super easy to choose and save icons to your library. The attribution must be given.

2. Pixsellz Material Icons Library

In Pixsellz Material Icons Library there are over 1000 icons in 16 categories. Icons are presented in three different visual styles based on Material design - rounded, outline, and two-tone. You can use the icons in your favorite design software because the set comes in six different file formats.

3. Behance

If you want designer-quality icons from professional designers, make sure you visit Behance. There are a lot of icons to choose from, so there are lots to explore. Behance isn't as search-friendly as other websites on this list, so you'll need to do some fancy searching to find exactly what you're looking for. Nevertheless, finding the beautiful icons here is well worth the effort.

4. Captain Icons

Captain Icon offers beautiful, free, vector-based icons in EPS, PSD, PNG, SVG, and Web Font. Everything from color to size can be customized. The icons can be used for commercial and personal projects. Citation is required.

5. Icon Finder

Iconfinder makes it easy to find icons. You can choose from half a million free and premium icons. Downloads are available in multiple file formats and sizes.

6. Evil Icons

This pack includes everything - including SVGs and source files - and is absolutely massive. Therefore, you can download SVGs along with Illustrator files and Sketch files.

Icons follow the thin line style and they're perfect for most websites. The fact that you can edit the original source makes them even more valuable.

7. Fontisto

Fontisto is a collection of vector icons. You can customize icons instantly: size, color, drop shadow, and anything else that can be done with CSS. Fontisto icons are vectors, so they will look good on any high-resolution monitor.

It contains complete documentation, as well as guides for launching and customizing the product. The product can be used by simply pasting the link into your website. Fontisto can also be used with any package manager of your choice: npm, yarn, bower, etc.
